TRIO ENSUEÑO

It originated in 1989 in the music workshop of the Technological Institute of Mérida. Its name is inspired by the song "Noche de Ensueño" by maestro Felipe Domínguez Romero.
Its founding members were Javier Rosado Suaste, first voice and guitarist; Gilberto Cab May, second voice and requinto guitarist; and Diego Jesús Cocom Cocom, third voice and guitarist.
The Trio is a great ambassador of traditional Yucatecan trova music. They have participated in tourism and cultural promotion events in cities in Mexico, the United States, Colombia, and Cuba, notably their participation in the 56th edition of the Pepe Sánchez International Trova Festival (2018), the 59th edition of the virtual Pepe Sánchez Festival (2021), the 36th National Festival of Colombian Music in Ibagué, Colombia (2022), a cultural exchange between artists with their counterparts, the Ensueño Trio from Santiago de Cuba (2023), the Mono Núñez Andean Music Festival in Ginebra, Colombia (2024), the 57th edition of the Boleros de Oro International Festival, and on Cuban national television (2025).
In 2023, she received the medal from the Museum of Yucatecan Song in recognition of her career and cultural contribution.
Currently, the group consists of José Moisés Osorio Novelo, lead vocalist and guitarist; Ricardo Ildefonso Jiménez Vallejos, requinto guitarist and second vocalist; and Diego Jesús Cocom Cocom, director, third vocalist and bass.
FORMER CONVENT OF SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSIS,
CONKAL, YUCATAN

The Temple and former Convent of San Francisco de Asís is one of the oldest and most important monuments and foundations of convent architecture in Yucatán, whose foundation is due to Fray Luis de Villalpando in 1549.
In 1555, the church was dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi by Friar Francisco de Navarro. By 1588 the Convent was completed, as described by Friar Antonio de Ciudad Real:
“The convent is one of the first that were built in that province; it is finished with its upper and lower cloister,
dormitories and cells; everything is made of stone and mud with little lime, although whitewashed on the outside, some of the cells have
vaulted ceiling and others made of wood, and in one of them the friars pray and the Blessed Sacrament is kept.”
In the 17th century, the Convent was rebuilt and it was not until 1998 that it was restored again, finding Mayan remains on which it was built, as well as fragments of pottery and bones from the colonial period.
The former convent building has two floors; its most notable features are its waterwheel with a dome, its halls, and two cloisters. In the first and more modern cloister, a sundial can be seen on one of its upper structures and its the place that we will have the honor of meeting on this NIGHT OF TROVA to benefit the educational programs of Edúcate Yucatán; in the second, the older and smaller cloister, another waterwheel can also be observed. It was in this cloister that the friar Diego López de Cogolludo wrote part of his work "History of Yucatán," so important to the memory of colonial history.
Currently, the former Convent houses the Historical Archive of the Archdiocese of Yucatán and the Museum of Sacred Art.
